A shoppers guide to Whitstable a cosy seaside town

Take a stroll down Harbour street and this is where you will find a charming selection of independent stores. These shops stock contemporary crafters, selling home décor, fashion lines, jewellery, lighting and much more. The stores support individual artists and makers who are both sustainable and ethical in their production. If you’re anything like me, I love to browse independent stores to support smaller businesses, and find items that are unique.

If you want to know where to shop in Whitstable this is the post for you.

RUSKIN

Ruskin sells both womenswear and menswear lines. They also have a small selection of accessories and the owner of the store sells her own artwork, which I thought was a lovely touch. The store is a family run business and they take pride in working with emerging brands who value knowing the origin of the product. Think lovely knits, oversized tees and trendy trousers.

FRANK

Frank is a home-wear store / gallery space set in an neighteenth-century fisherman’s cottage. The shop is filled with handwoven mats and baskets, coffee table books, dreamy earthy ceramics (I nearly brought a piece from Lucy Rutter) and a range of prints. You can tell this store is passionate about selling artisan and handmade items that will last and bring beauty to your home. This store is well worth a mooch around.

BUTTERCUP

Buttercup is a children's boutique where you can find beautiful toys, decor, books and clothing for little people. This cosy shop is packed full of everything you would want your little human to have. Quality items such as traditional wooden toys, colourful artwork and artisan clothing are all for sale.
